It’s Time to Say Goodbye

08/15/2008

It’s Personal
Hello everyone. It’s Kim here writing today. I have some sad news that I need to share.

I have made the decision and am retiring from Girls Night In. Before you get all upset on me, let me present to you my reasons. I have a lot going on in my life right now: I have my son to care for, school starting back up, my father and my grandmother who are ill and require my help in their care, a career path to pursue, the tornado, the loss and the resulting trauma for me as well as a whole slew of other personal happenings. I need to work on my career and focus more on things with my son first and foremost. I don’t have the time or energy right now to put into the show that which I’ve always put into it (and not make a profit from it). I am taking all of the time as well as the energy that I have invested in GNI and am putting it into the areas of my life which need the attention most. I love the show so very much and hate to have had to make this decision but I have to do what is right for my family and I.

The Podcast
Now it’s time to address the podcast itself.

The four of us started this show, and together the four of us are the Girls Night In. We have to keep that in mind as one of us leaves the show. In doing so, it really is no longer Girls Night In. It is time to retire the show as well, giving the respect the show itself deserves: to leave it having been the show that was Kim, Rachel, Jaime and Maggie.

Consistently represented by a combination of any/many of the four of us is GNI: Unplugged. We’re still discussing the hopeful continuance of this Unplugged show. We’ll keep you posted.

Keeping in Touch
We’ll post again to tell you how to keep in touch with each of us soon.

Thank You
Thank you all for being here with us. Thank you for listening, for your (hopeful) understanding of the steps I am taking personally and as a result with the show. You’ve all been amazing and have been the bestest stalkers that a podcast could ever imagine having.

Keep a look-out here for a possible short goodbye episode from the four of us.

Girl Power!

07/29/2008

Let me start by saying w00t!

The Girls Night In podcast has had it’s biggest month ever for downloads here in July. So far we’re ahead of our record downloads by 250 and there are still 2 days left to the month. We’re getting right around 1,000 downloads per week now. Our subscriber base fluctuates between 600-700 and we’re gaining between 40-60 new listeners every month. We’ve also been a featured podcast in iTunes since September, 2007.

Thank you for spreading the word about the podcast. Most stalkers tend to keep the objects of their obsession to themselves, but you all rawk! And just for that, I’ve made you a handy-dandy little stalker badge that you can wear as your avatar, internet icon or as a mask on Halloween.

Let’s hear it for female personalities playing loudly in the podcast waters!

-Kim

I\'m An Official Stalker of the Girls Night In Podcast

A Gathering Survey

05/20/2008

You may or may not have heard rumors about a Girls Night In podcast gathering (meet-up or party, if you will) happening this summer. Well, it’s true! We’ll be gathering in the Chicago, IL area (technically in northwestern Indiana) on July 18-19, 2008 for fun and festivities. Before we can share with you all of the juicy details, we have to finish planning them. See how that works?

Now, in order for the planning to finalize, we need your help. Please take this survey and we’ll get back to announcing the rest of the details just as soon as we can. Thanks for your help!

By registering and attending the gathering, you give Girls Night In permission to use any footage or audio obtained during that weekend at their discretion.

Dear stalkers (AKA rabid fans),

I’m writing to tell you that we love you, we really do. We here at Girls Night In have devised an exercise for you to participate in to see how devoted you really are. We’ve decided to switch up our schedule again this week. Are we keeping you on your toes yet?

Instead of having this week’s show on Wednesday, May 14 we’re taking a step back and moving it to Tuesday, May 13.

Think you can keep up with us? Show us how good of a stalker you really are!

We know you’re behind us,
The Hosts of Girls Night In

So get your feedback into us before then or be good little stalkers and be sure to show up to the live show!

Website Will Be Temporarily Unavailable

03/27/2008

ETA: Thanks for your patience over the weekend. Obviously, everything is back up and running! We’ll see you this Wednesday for our review of The Princess Bride!

This website will be offline this weekend for approximately 24-48 hours starting on Friday night at 11:59pm. Our web host is migrating the server that we’re on to a new physical location in another state. They’re also upgrading all of the hardware so that certain performance issues will also improve.

If you’re subscribed to our podcast through an aggregator like iTunes or Zune, you will still be able to access all of our podcasts. I am redirecting our RSS feed to where we host our live calls at, TalkShoe during the outage. You shouldn’t notice a difference.

In the meantime, don’t forget there are numerous ways to interact with us: Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. We hope to see you there! You know, since we have this time available, would you mind leaving us an iTunes review? Just say a few words and hit submit. It helps to get the word out about our show.

Any questions? Leave a creative voicemail 206.203.4308 or reach us through any of the above social networks!

ETA: Thanks for your patience over the weekend. Obviously, everything is back up and running! We’ll see you this Wednesday for our review of The Princess Bride!
