Jaime’s Twitter Stance

07/30/2007

Let me start by saying that this blog has been building for quite some time. I am ready to stop the passive-aggressive cycle and address this topic once and for all. Here goes.

Twitter is a public forum. You choose who you are going to follow. I have signed up and accepted the same terms that you did. Nowhere in that agreement did I agree to not use it to send a message to another person. Nor am I sending an “instant”message, as I have no idea if the person I am contacting will read it any time soon. I have every right to use twitter in this manner. In fact, twitter has ENABLED me to do so by allowing for the direct message feature. By the way, I AM telling you “what I am doing”… I am messaging someone something I want them to know or respond to. THAT IS what I am doing. Other people complain about people tweeting what they are having for lunch. Really people, it is twitter… it is not life altering, just go with it. Does it matter how I use it? I am having turkey for lunch and asking fred about cake…

There are several people whom I was once following that I have stopped doing so. I found that they tweeted way too often for my taste or that the tweets and/or twitter picture offended me. I simply removed myself from following them and went on my merry way. They have never annoyed me since. I hereby invite you to not follow me if you object to how I use the service. In fact, fish or cut bait. Either stop following my tweets or STOP COMPLAINING. Who gave you people the right to dictate how other people use a public forum? It is your opinion on how it should be used, and nothing more. Get over it already, one way or another, be done with it.

On a happier note, Girls Night In will be featured on Adam Curry’s Podfinder USA show! Whooo hooo. That is so exciting for us girls. Also it gave me a place to look for new podcasts. Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions for podcasts to keep me sane at work. May I in turn suggest listening to GSPN’s Full Time Mom, and Leo Laporte’s Jumping Monkeys. Both are great new shows!

I am wearing a brand new, crisp, white dress shirt today at work. Went to the bathroom and realized I already splashed coffee on it. That sucks.

Okay, off to take some tylenol and do more time study analysis’. Dont you wish you had my job? ;)

Jme

PS Funny blurb… I cant access the girlsnightinpodcast site from work because the system thinks it is porn! I have had several messages sent to the administrator who has not said anything, but who probably thinks I am a perv!

Maggie’s First Blog

07/28/2007

Since Jaime did the first co-host blog, I thought I would test the waters with my own. Mine maybe a little long but I am linking to something cool. Wait, is that considered cheating?

It is really okay that the other girls didn’t like my movie pick. Everyone has different movie tastes. I thought it would have been better received because I find it so funny. But James is right; comedy is subjective. I am not sure how it came off during the show, but I was amused by most of what they were saying and of course came up with better responses later to some of their comments. It was just the first time we disagreed. After everyone loved The Pursuit of Happyness, I hoped everyone would love Wet Hot American Summer. I do agree with Jaime that we won’t always agree and that makes it fun.

The main reason for my blog this morning is a link I found on http://imdb.com/ this morning, 12 Small Roles With a Big Impact from EW.com. So I followed the link, and guess who number 2 is?

*drum roll*

CHRISTOPHER MELONI, Wet Hot American Summer!!!!! YAY!!!!

Here is what EW said, it may be in the upcoming magazine not sure.
“From David Hyde Pierce’s awkward advances on Janeane Garofalo to Paul Rudd’s too-cool-for-camp ‘tude, this quintessential ’80s-revival camp movie has many bizarre and irreverent moments. But one performance that never ceases to amaze me is Christopher Meloni’s turn as the deranged camp chef Gene. Best known as Det. Elliott Stabler on Law & Order, Meloni displays a natural comedic touch with his insane non-sequiturs (”Now finish up them taters, I’m gonna go fondle my sweaters”) and ability to carry himself in an unthinkably small sleeveless t-shirt. Whether he’s talking to a can of vegetables, humping a fridge, or commandeering one of the greatest ”vision quest” montages in cinematic history, Meloni truly makes his presence felt. — Chris Schonberger” http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20047112_1,00.html

I love Christopher Meloni and this just proves to me that other people like my movie pick. I swear I am not bitter! (being bitter is a whole high school inside joke) There is a really funny picture on the site too. Not sure I was able to sing Meloni’s praises as much as I wanted during the show.

On the other hand, I have rented Wallace & Gromit: the Curse of the Were-Rabbit and can’t wait to watch it. I wanted to get it right away just in case I can’t find it when it is closer to the the show.

Be proud of you who are!!!

Jaime’s Reflections - Blog Style!

07/26/2007

Hello there all. This is my first blog. I am hoping to blog a few times a week. I am not too sure what the other girls are planning on. We recorded last night, episode 4. I had a great time, as usual, recording. I was a bit down on the movie we reviewed. I hope I wasn’t TOO harsh. I made the statement that it would be boring if we all liked the movies all the time and I stand by that.

After the show I watched a documentary on the dodgers. It was pretty interesting. I am hoping to finish it tonight. I have been plugging away at the podcasts on my ipod. I think that I am almost through with all 108 podcasts I started with. I need some suggestions other ones to listen to now. I NEED them to make it through the day at work!

I wanna give a shout out to one of my favorite listeners, Fred… you rule. Thanks for all the support you show us girls, you crack us up. Anyway, I better run. I am just killing the time before lunch and as usual… I am hungry! Tuna sandwich it is!
